You have made all reasonable efforts to resolve a dispute with someone. You have talked to them, sent letters, contacted your lawyers and they have sent letters, and still you have not received an adequate response or solved the dispute. What next? Often times, the next step is to begin a lawsuit—civil litigation.

Civil Litigation is a legal dispute between two or more parties that seek monetary damages or specific performance rather than criminal sanctions. A lawyer who specializes in civil litigation is known as a “litigator” or “trial lawyer.” Attorneys at Cartwright Law have successfully represented parties in trials, hearings, arbitrations and mediation before administrative agencies, foreign tribunals and federal, state and local courts.

Civil Litigation can be divided into seven stages: investigation, discovery, pre-trial, settlement and appeal. Not every lawsuit passes through each stage of litigation; most lawsuits are settled prior to trial and many cases that reach a trial verdict are not appealed.

Cartwright Law concentrates in the following types of civil litigation: landlord/tenant, guardianship/probate and contract/collections.

The attorneys at Cartwright Law have successfully tried numerous cases, found favorable judgements and negotiated generous settlements for our clients. Contact Cartwright Law to schedule a free 30-minute consultation.
